Buh Bye Food Restrictions

 

There’s a big reveal in the middle you’ll want to share with every health conscious person you know. 

 Dear “hungry to feel well,” 

 I’ve been waiting for the right time to tell you this. Feathers will be ruffled! But this information is too important not to share. And when I’m wrong, I have to admit I’m wrong.
 
With years of food elimination programs under my belt, one-on-one nutrition counseling, personal & clinical experience as well as scientific & anecdotal research – I’ve come to a conclusion.
 
When I got off the phone with Sally, I wanted to celebrate with ice cream! Sally worked with me for 6 months, as I supported her food elimination diet. Recently, she signed up for an Intuitive Reading and two nutrition consultations. Today was her third session, she had this to report:

If you know me, you know I take my job as a health coach seriously. I’m fiercely protective of my client’s sanity so I’m cautious of word choice, language and advice. Anything I say I aim to a) not confuse you further and b) empower you with CHOICES instead of adding more rules. 
 
That said, the time has come to boldly draw my sword in the sand and tell you which side of the “line” I stand on. 

 

Dairy and gluten are health foods, they’re NOT the problem. You will not become healthier by avoiding them. More harm is caused by keeping food sensitivities out of your diet.

 

Elimination diets have caused an outbreak of food phobia and orthorexia.

People are stuck in restriction because of fear, misunderstanding and nutritional deficiencies. This negative cycle of confusion, defeat and more elimination needs to be STOPPED. 
 
It’s not natural. The hyper vigilance and over-thinking that’s required with “precious diets” exacerbates adrenal fatigue and exhaustion and eats away at the JOYS and pleasures of eating.
 

Your goal is an INCLUSIVE, robust and diverse diet.

You may feel this and don’t know where to begin. You’re afraid of feeling worse and you’ve tried to reintroduce foods without success. Sally wasn’t messing around, her GI issues caused debilitating pain and skin rashes and she was able to reintroduce her entire list of “NO” foods with strategy, support and a yearning to eat eat certain foods.

If you don’t have celiac or a true allergy (anaphylactic shock), you can take the shackles off and eat foods that once hurt you, symptom-free.

Here’s an overview of the plan, that got Sally eating freely again: 

  1. Stopped treating her “food problem” and starting treating her “anxiety problem”
  2. Took away ALL food restrictions
  3. Removed medications, products and causes of Leaky Gut
  4. Exercise & meditation were a critical part of the equation
  5. Stopped “treating” menopause and started nourishing hormones
  6. Introduced yogurt therapeutically 
  7. Ate mineral rich diet: cooked veg, soups, ferments, meats, bone broth, seaweed & mushrooms
  8. Used bitters and liver support daily  
  9. Repaired intestinal lining with demulcent herbs 
  10. Worked on moderating inflammation & immune systems, nourished gut bacteria and adrenals
 
This is not something you’ll read about in current Health Magazines, the trend to eliminate food is rampant and the more you hate your body, mistrust your appetite, want a QUICK-FIX, let alone feel terrible, the more easily you’ll fall into the elimination trap. 
 

This is a WAKE-UP call so, please share this with others. The longer you’re at war with your appetite, limiting your diet and struggling with symptoms, the longer the wait to get well. Health doesn’t have to be painful or restrictive.
